Ascent Wellness FAQs
Ascent Wellness answers your questions about massage, salt therapy and sauna services.
Yes. We recommend that you consult with your doctor or health care professional before receiving any of these services.
We recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing to your sauna session and bringing a change of clothes to wear home. We provide towels.
We allow anyone over the age of 18 to use our sauna. However, an adult must accompany children under that age (but over age six). We recommend that children only stay in the sauna for 15 minutes. The National Institutes of Health advises against sauna treatments during pregnancy. Raising body temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit during pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects in the developing fetus. However, research shows far-infrared rays safely increase lactation in breastfeeding mothers. New mothers also benefit from detoxification, relief from anxiety and depression and a stronger parasympathetic nervous system.
Sauna sessions last 45 minutes. While color light therapy is complimentary, red light therapy costs an additional $15. Two people may use the sauna together. We encourage you to drink water during your treatment to stay well hydrated. You may bring your phone or tablet into the sauna. However, we encourage you to take this time as a break from technology. You can expect to feel rejuvenated and refreshed after each session.
Regular color light therapy sauna treatments help the body detox and heal. Treatments reduce inflammation, relieves pain, speeds healing, increases range of motion, decreases muscle tension, improves circulation, regulates mood, improves sleep, relieves SAD (seasonal affective disorder), and slows aging. Studies show treatments also lowers blood pressure, reduces stiffness and pain, reduces fatigue, and improves stamina.
Infrared saunas provide radiant heat that warms you not the surrounding air. Research shows Far Infrared Radiation (FIR) does not harm humans. In fact, doctors use FIR to warm newborn babies. Research supports the health benefits of regular infrared, color therapy treatments for a variety of conditions. Our sauna offers a safe, low EMFR (Electromagnetic Field Radiation) rating and emits zero VOC.
The chromotherapy lights in our sauna provide the wellness benefits of color light therapy. Each color applied to the body produces a different bodily response. For example, red stimulates while blue relaxes the body. Research shows color light therapy reduces inflammation, relieves pain, speeds healing, increases range of motion, decreases muscle tension, improves circulation, regulates mood, improves sleep, relieves SAD (seasonal affective disorder) and slows aging.
What is the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna providing color light therapy?
Infrared color-light therapy heats the body with light. The radiant heat penetrates the skin to produce a gentle warming inside the body and heals a variety of ailments. A traditional sauna heats the air temperature to over 180 degrees Fahrenheit, making it uncomfortable to sit in. Because the heat is outside the body, a regular sauna does not penetrate as deeply into the cells as an infrared sauna. Studies show that infrared saunas expel seven times more toxins, including environmental and heavy-metal toxins.
